The 2017 Boy Scout Jamboree will soon start at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, but scouts on the way are making a difference in our area.

A scout troops from New York is being welcomed by the Lewis County Commission and others Monday evening.

Scouts from the group will be spending time learning about the county, and helping with some projects around the Lewis County Park.

Commission members say it's a great opportunity for the County, too.

"They're from Hudson Valley, New York.  We want to show them what is local, and maybe we can bring interest in the area for people to come visit West Virginia or Lewis County," said Commissioner Rod Wyman.

Scout troops will also be spending time working in Upshur County on Tuesday before traveling to the jamboree.
