UPDATE (7/12/17 12:45 p.m.):
Thomas J. Burgoyne Jr., 44, of Clarksburg was arrested after allegedly robbing the MVB Bank in downtown Clarksburg Wednesday morning, police said.
Burgoyne has been charged with robbery after he was found near the United States Post Office with a GoMart bag containing $1,000, according to the Clarksburg Police Department. He allegedly passed the teller a note stating it was a bank robbery, asked for $1,000, and said he did not want to use the gun in his pocket. He also said he would kill three people if he did not receive the money, police said.
Magistrate Tammy Marple has set a $500,000 bond for Burgoyne. He will be taken to the North Central Regional Jail.
MVB Bank in downtown Clarksburg was robbed Wednesday morning, according to the Clarksburg Police Department.
Police said a man believed to be in his late 30s robbed the bank at approximately 10:15 a.m. and got away with cash. He was taken into custody less than 10 minutes later near the United States Post Office on West Pike Street in Clarksburg.
No one was hurt during the incident, police said.
