Lewis County Booster Treasurer Admits to Embezzling Over $9,000 from Track Team

The treasurer of the Lewis County High School Track Team Boosters is accused of embezzling over $9,000 from the team's account.

Christopher Burkhammer, 43, of Weston, confessed to forging a name on eight checks totaling $9,375, which were cashed out of the Lewis County High School Track Team's account.

The checks were issued between May 15 and August 3 and all cashed at United Bank in Lewis County, according to West Virginia State Police.

Burkhammer told police he needed the money to pay off personal bills and household items.

Burkhammer is charged with eight counts of forgery, eight counts of uttering and embezzlement.
