Morgantown residents may soon see solar panels popping up on houses and businesses.
That's because the Morgantown Solar Co-op accepted a bid from a contractor at a meeting Monday, July 13.
The next step for this group of community members is to receive estimates on solar panel installations at their home or business.
Solar Co-op members could start creating their own energy by the end of the summer, something that excites a leader of the group.
“What’s great about that for homeowners is that they will immediately, once their panels are installed, start producing energy and save money on their electric bills,” said Karan Ireland, program director for WV Sun.
Similar groups in Wheeling and Charleston also plan to accept bids this week.
