It all started four years ago with the foundation of a basketball league at Horizons Church in Lost Creek. One King Sports Founder Ricky Hitt and his colleagues wanted to provide a way for kids to play sports and be exposed to more than just lessons about fair play.
"The big thing we'd like to provide, we'd love to provide, is positive christian mentors, positive Christian leaders within the community. So our goal with One King Sports is to raise enough funds to eventually build an indoor sporting complex," said Hitt.
Hitt said One King Sports want to add other sports to their program, but either way, they hope to provide a new location, since the basketball league has grown so much in just a few short years that it's difficult to fit in all the games.
"We've taken that league from literally about 30 kids the first year, to this previous season, about 200 kids, and we do this all on one court, and we are jam-packed, bursting at the seams. So we established a legitimate 501(c)3 with One King Sports," said Hitt.
To help make that dream a reality, One King Sports is sponsoring a mud run this August. Hitt said the money raised from the run will go a long way to making that dream a reality.
"We want you to encourage some fellowship here, do this with your friends, get a group of four friends, five friends, six friends, and run this together. It doesn't matter how fast you finish this, no one's timing you, it's about, we really like to say, run walk or crawl, the goal is to finish. It's much like life," said Hitt.
