A professional baseball team has found a new home in Morgantown, following an announcement from Rich Baseball Operations at the West Virginia University Coliseum Monday afternoon.

The short-season Class-A New York-Penn League franchise will serve as a Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate and its season will run from mid-June through Labor Day, according to a news release.  The team will play games at the baseball complex for West Virginia University's Big XII baseball program, which broke ground in October 2013.

The team will hold a contest for fans to help with the selection of the club's name in the fall of 2014.  You can find the team on Facebook and Twitter. The New York Penn-League first announced its intent to move to Morgantown in March 2013.

"On behalf of West Virginia University, we're delighted to have Rich Baseball as part of the sports fabric of West Virginia," said Oliver Luck, Athletic Director of West Virginia University in a news release. "We're looking forward to a long and productive relationship."

"With the Mountaineers in the Big XII conference and the construction of this great new facility, it's a tremendous opportunity to bring our fun and exciting brand of minor league baseball to the fans of Morgantown and Monongalia County," said Mindy Rich, President of Rich Entertainment Group.
