The Fairmont Farmer's Market is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays, but if you want locally grown fresh produce throughout the week, well, you're in luck.
"With all the food and health scares like E. coli and recalls, I started getting really concerned about where my food comes from that I'm feeding my family. I thought, wouldn't it be great to have a place that all of those farmers and all of those things could be in one spot?" said Christa Blais.
So less than three months ago, Blais opened up her brainchild, All Things Herbal, on Adams Street in downtown Fairmont.
"Any fruit that we have to bring in, we bring in organic. We also have a full line of grocery items, a whole bunch of gluten-free items, seasonings, sauces, bulk herbs and spices...." said Blais.
Blais has set out on a mission to support the local farmer's market, even on its off-days.
"So whatever items farmers don't sell on market day, they can bring right across the street to All Things Herbal," said Blais.
"They can, essentially, bring their leftovers to me, or if they can't make the market, they'll bring their stuff here instead. It helps them to still be able to generate that farm income without having to be at a set place at a set time," said Blais.
But it's not just the local farmers getting Blais' support. She sells products from local artisans in the front of her store.
"Several of the artisan vendors are looking into getting their own place now because they've had such a success here, which would be fabulous because that only helps our local economy," said Blais.
City officials agree: All Things Herbal is a huge asset to the community.
"It's giving people access to healthy food, and so much of who we are as a healthy community starts with that," said Kate Greene of Main Street Fairmont.
Customers can't get enough.
"This is stuff we get back home, and I was concerned we weren't going to be able to find that up here, but I heard they just opened, so I was really excited," said customer Regina White.
All Things Herbal even offers yoga and massage therapy and is open for business six days a week.
