With gas prices still on the high side, drivers need all the help they can get to save money.
That's why the Faith Church International in Fairmont and Exxon are giving back to the community this weekend.
"With gasoline prices today, everyone appreciates that discount," said Karen Ford of the Faith Church International.
Random acts of kindness can make just about anyone’s day, and the Faith International Church is getting pretty good at it. It's continuing the trend this Saturday at the Hawkins Exxon off Interstate 79.
"We give customers off 25 cents a gallon for each gallon of gas that they purchase from 8 a.m. to noon. I know it doesn't sound very random because this is our seventh year, but it's just something to touch people's lives, to make a difference in the community, no matter how big or how small that might be,” said Ford.
And it's also making a difference for Ed Hawkins, who has owned the Exxon for 10 years.
"I do want to give back to the community, but I'm glad for all people. Gas has been really high, and it's the most business I ever have when this happens,” said Hawkins.
"It's a win-win situation because the church is reimbursing them for the 25 cents off a gallon, the patrons will be receiving the 25 cents off a gallon, and it'll bring in a little more business here at this Exxon on East Grafton Road.,” said Ford.
Hawkins Exxon is located off exit 137. The gasoline "buydown" will take place on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to noon.
