UPDATE: Marion County Couple Pleads Guilty to Child Neglect Resulting in Death
Andrew Hall, 23
A Monongah man has pleaded guilty to child neglect resulting in death after his two-year-old daughter overdosed on Tramadol last April.
Andrew Hall told Judge David Janes he saw the child had eaten the pills, but instead of calling 9-1-1, he gave her a bath, tried to induce vomiting, and put her to sleep.
Hall said he called an ambulance when she stopped breathing.
Hall will be sentenced in November. Original Story:
A Marion County woman has pleaded guilty to child neglect resulting in death.
Brittany Edgell, 24, is charged with the April 12 death of her 2-year-old daughter after waking up to learn that she had ingested Tramadol. Edgell testified that she "took matters into her own hands" instead of seeking help. Edgell told the court Thursday that she gave her daughter a bath, let her continue to vomit, and put her to bed. Edgell said she found the child not breathing approximately five hours later.
Andrew Hall, 23, was also charged in the case. He told deputies that the child was impaired and stumbling around the room, according to court documents. Detectives said the child went into cardiac arrest and died in her sleep.
