National Night Out 2014 will be held across the United States on Tuesday evening.
It will be held in Bridgeport, Clarksburg, and other communities in the area.
It started in 1984, and is held on the first Tuesday in August.
Bridgeport's event will be held behind the civic center, and feature free food and door prizes, including flat screen tv's.
It's also a chance for the public to meet first responders.
“It's a big supporter of the police department and it gives us a chance to meet the folks in Bridgeport that you might not normally meet. It helps the residents meet the police officers and first responders in a casual, laid-back atmosphere, instead of a tragic event like most of the time we show up on,” explained Deputy Chief Randy Hartley with the Bridgeport Police Department.
All of the National Night Out events in the area start at 6 p.m.
