Upshur and Lewis County hosted West Virginia’s Largest Yard sales on Friday and Saturday.
Buckhannon seller, Brent Hyre, said that on Friday crowds of people poured into his yard sale; and he was able to get rid of some of his items he had for sale. He said “someone else’s junk is someone else’s treasure.” Sales on Friday alone made him a little more than a $1,000 in sales.
“We started Friday and we’ve had two days of very, very busy yard sales. I think yesterday we had over 300 people here,” said Hyre.
“I found a wooden bench. I found a kerosene lantern, a few DVDs, some speakers and a number of items,” said Michelle Bailey, of Charleston.
Hyre also said that the yard sale helps the community also through visitors shopping local businesses and visiting restaurants that in turn help the local economy.
