A former work supervisor at the Federal Prison Camp at Alderson, West Virginia has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for abusive sexual contact with a female inmate.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said Jeffrey S. Walton, 48, of Ronceverte, West Virginia, had admitted in U.S. District Court in Beckley to touching the woman’s breasts while he was serving as her work supervisor. He is no longer employed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Goodwin said.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Prisons and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

In other cases, Adam Ray Smith, 26, admitted to selling heroin to a person cooperating with police in August at a location near Ronceverte.

Smith, a Ronceverte resident, also said he distributed about 1,000 packets of heroin, totaling about 48 grams, in Greenbrier County between May and August 2013.

Smith faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine at sentencing, set for Nov. 13.

The case was investigated by the Greenbrier Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.

Assistant U.S. Attorney John File handled both cases, and both men appeared before U.S. District Judge Irene C. Berger.
