Mountain Creative in Fairmont offers pottery and ceramics for kids of all ages.
"It's fun, and they don't judge you on how you do," said Aubrey Barrett.
"There's such a wealth of talent in this area, and a lot of people don't have a way to express that," said owner Miles Holbert, who set up shop on Speedway Avenue last summer. "I'm from Fairmont, so I saw the need for an art-centered business, different materials that they maybe wouldn't be able to work with in the classroom."
Mountain Creative accepts walk-ins and offers a variety of classes, from "Mommy and Me" to the more advanced "Kids in Clay" - where students can actually make their own pottery before they paint.
"He does a little demo of what we're going to do, and then he gives us the clay and walks us through it, and then we just make it. And then when we're finished, he lets us paint it," said Aubrey Barrett.
"We have a kindergarten teacher that comes in who has 30 years of experience and speaks with the kids. She reads a story, depending on what they'll be making, the story will be based on that," said Holbert, in reference to the "Mommy and Me" class.
Fairmont resident Lori Barrett said the classes are a perfect creative outlet for both of her daughters.
"We've actually been participating in it since the end of the last school year, they had their kids club then. So my younger daughter got started in it then, where you come in and create with clay and paint. It's just a hands-on, creative way for them to do something. It's a local business, and it's a good way to support them," said Lori.
Mountain Creative will be celebrating its first birthday with a party on August 8. For more information, visit its Facebook page.
