A fire destroyed a Doddridge County home after fire crews battle the fire late Sunday night.
It happened just after 11 p.m. on Smithton Road. Officials said they arrived on scene of a full engulfed fire and it took about one hour to get the flames under control.
The homeowner was home at the time, but made it out safely.
West Union Fire Chief Pat Heaster said he believes the fire started in the basement of the home and is not believed to be suspicious.
The home is a total loss and is under investigation.
West Union Fire, Smithburg Volunteer and Bancs Volunteer Fire Departments all responded to the scene.
