Wesleyan's Beilein Leaving For The NBA

Posted: Updated:
BUCKHANNON - West Virginia Wesleyan basketball coach Patrick Beilein is leaving Buchannon to join the Utah Jazz's coaching staff.

Beilein coached the Bobcats for the past two years turning them into a 20 win team in just his second year. He went 32-27 in his two season.

"Patrick from the very beginning was committed to bringing in good student athletes," said Wesleyan Athletic Director Randy Tenney. "Kids that not only preformed well on the basketball court, but kids that did well in the class room and graduated."

Beilein is the son of former WVU basketball coach John Beilein. He led the Bobcats to a 20-12 record last season. In a statement released by WVWC, the school wished him the best of luck:  "Wesleyan wishes Patrick the best of luck as he embarks on the next chapter of his basketball career," said Duane Carpenter Wesleyan's Sports information Director.

The search for Beilein's replacement is under way.

"To show you how quickly word gets out, I've already received a resume via email and I'm sure I'm going there are plenty more coming after," he said. "We'll try to have candidates in at the end of the first week of August and we'll try to have a new coach as soon as possible."
