Renovations continue at the Marion County courthouse, as commissioners announced that the county would receive a $100,000 grant for work on its dome.
The Economic Development Authority had already secured an $800,000 grant, which will be used to seal leaks in stain glass windows and paint the dome gold.
Commission president Butch Tennant says county officials are trying to restore the dome back to its original look.
Renovations at the Marion County Courthouse have been taking place for some time, and commission has announced another project that is in the works.
The county approved $98,500 in grant money to improve the courthouse dome.
Crews will repair some small leaks around the skylight, put up scaffolding, and perform additional routine maintenance work.
Commission President Butch Tennant said the money came from the Courthouse Facilities Estate.
