A Rowlesburg man is dead after an ATV crash Thursday night.
Frank Boe Preston, III, 22, of Rowlesburg was pronounced dead at the scene after being thrown from 2003 Polaris four wheeler on Saltlick Road just before 8 p.m., said West Virginia State Police Trooper First Class J.T. Gallaher.
Preston's ATV ran off of the road, hit a fence post, and is believed to have rolled over. Upon hitting the fence post, Preston was thrown from the ATV and landed in a field, said Gallaher. Preston was not wearing a helmet.
The investigation into the accident continues. Saltlick Road is located between Terra Alta and Rowlesburg. Salt Lick Road is an unlined road, said Gallaher, which means ATV use is legal in that area.
