Two people were transported to the hospital after an accident on Route 50 on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened just after 5:30 p.m. when a Chevrolet SUV, driven by Howard Bailey, of Sardis, was crossing Route 50 heading towards Route 98 near Wilsonburg. A maroon Ford pick up truck, driven by Ousley Isreal, 34, of Wellston, Ohio, failed to stop at a stop light and ran into the Chevrolet, said the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.
Both people in the Chevrolet SUV were injured. Ruth Burnside-Bailey, a passenger, was flown to Ruby Hospital via Healthnet and is in serious condition. Howard Bailey was transported by ambulance to United Hospital Center.
Isreal did not receive any injuries. He was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and could be facing additional charges, said Chief Deputy Steve Johnson.
Harrison County Sheriff's Department, Reynoldsville Fire Department, Harrison County EMS, and Healthnet responded to the scene. Harrison County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
