The Clarksburg Rotary Club gave $500 to a future West Virginia University student on Wednesday afternoon.

North Marion High School’s Sophia Neville received the scholarship check.

Rotarians said they raise the money by holding a statewide dance line competition.

“The money that we raise from the dance line competition is used in its entirety to give back to the community.  That is the purpose of Clarksburg Rotary. And this award to this fine young lady is just what Clarksburg Rotary is all about,” said Curtis Edwards, Clarksburg Rotary.

Scholarship recipient, Sophia Neville said, “A lot of money we get through the scholarships goes just to tuition and there is extra fees and books you have tot buy and things like that.  So I plan on using it for books.”

Neville said she plans to study Industrial Engineering while at WVU.
