City and county officials are moving forward to securing the use of the former Elkins National Guard Armory.
The Randolph County Commission authorized Thursday during its regular meeting the county's prosecuting attorney to a draft a proposal creating a deed to the property.
The commission said once that's work is complete. It can enter into an agreement with the city to purchase the building.
Commissioner Mike Taylor said the property can still benefit the county and residents.
"And a our goal is to turn it into a community event center where everybody in the county rent it out, and eventually use it for weddings, auctions." said Taylor.
Elkins City Council is scheduled to discuss the sale at Thursday's council meeting.
