If you cast your ballot on Election Day, there’s a strong chance are you did it in a school or other public building. Schools and churches in the Mountain State are the most common locations for setting up polling places. And it’s been that way for a long time.

Reggie Bunner, a manager in the West Virginia Public Service Commission’s Transportation Enforcement Division, is one of 13 experts chosen to help create new materials for the Compliance, Safety and Accountability program, used by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to measure motor carrier and driver performance.

The purpose of the CSA program is to hold motor carriers and drivers accountable for their role in highway safety. The new materials being developed for the program will give commercial motor vehicle drivers instant online access to current safety rules and regulations as well as FMCSA’s newly implemented Safety Measurement System ratings, including information about violations and penalties. This will help both drivers and enforcement officers to ensure full compliance during roadside inspections.

“Our primary goal is to reduce fatalities. That hinges on our ability to conduct clean, successful roadside inspections. If we get motor carriers to comply, the roads will be safer for everyone,” said Bunner.

Bunner, who has been a PSC Transportation Enforcement Officer since 1992, helped update the group’s Hazardous Materials Training materials in 2012.
