Bandland and Percussion Center in Clarksburg is holding its annual rock camp this week and next week.
The camp is for kids ages 10 to 18.
The kids form bands, learn a number of songs, and then perform them at a concert.
“This band will perform eight songs. Anything from Metallica and ACDC, Led Zeppelin, to Paramore, Fall Out Boy, and Stone Temple Pilots. We try to do a little bit of everything so their parents can enjoy and they can perform songs they find popular on the radio today,” explained Matt Schoonmaker, instructor for rock camp.
This is the seventh year for rock camp, which Schoonmaker said started when the video game Guitar Hero came out.
Some students come back every year for the camp.
There will be a concert held on July 20 at Main Street Cafe at 6 p.m.
It’s open to all kids, as long as they have some instrument experience.
There’s another camp starting on July 14. Schoonmaker said there are already enough for one band, but if enough kids are interested there could possibly be a third band added.
