July is National Ice Cream Month and at the Ice Cream Train in Elkins they know ice cream time is anytime.
Stacy Coffman and her family opened the shop last year and continue to satisfy the towns sweet tooth.
The ice cream is even Mayor approved. "As long as it's ice cream I like it all," said Elkins Mayor Van T. Broughton.
Located on Davis Avenue, the Ice Cream Train brings a welcoming atmosphere to the Downtown area.
"A lot of the community walks and do not have any transportation, so this was something the town needed. We have a lot of elderly people and children will come in and sit while enjoying an ice cream cone. I have actually developed a small family here outside of my original family."
The Ice Cream Train is the only shop in the area that offers hand dipped ice cream and specializes in banana splits. Don't worry, if ice cream isn't your thing, daily specials including fried mac & cheese bites, pepperoni rolls and the town favorite the rib eye steak sandwich are always an option.
Coffman said,"We stay pretty busy. On Wednesday we call it Steak Day, we feature a rib eye steak sandwich and we serve between 150-200 people that day."
It's not just the menu that keeps the customers, coming back. Regular customer Brenda Alvarado said, "In chain restaurants you're just another person and nobody really cares who you are, but here its like you're family."
It’s open Monday through Sunday.
