The West Virginia Family Grief Center was helping kids and families cope with loss in Lewis County on Friday.
The organization is hosting its annual 'Grief Summit' at Stonewall Resort.
The event offers workshops for parents to learn more about helping their child deal with grief, and also provides activities for kids to work through their emotions in their own way.
Organizers said kids may need the extra help handling their grief.
"People are not aware that children grieve differently, and they continue to grieve if that grief is not met, if the help is not there for the child," said board member Linda Moore.
The summit wrapped up with dinner at the resort and a memorial butterfly release on the resort grounds.
