Doddridge County Elementary School held its annual Kids Relay for Life on Friday.
The kids walked around the circle in front of the school for about an hour to raise awareness and money for the teacher's Relay team.
This year was a little different though, after teacher Kathy Todd lost her battle to cancer just last week.
“We did a fundraiser for her not very long ago, and she has since passed away. It's a lot closer to home for the teachers and the students but this is a great way to honor her memory. The students remember her and love her as do all of us so this is a great way to remember her today,” explained Michelle Robey, fellow teacher and friend of Todd.
She was a teacher at the elementary school for more than 10 years, and she was diagnosed with lymphoma two years ago.
