Robert is 13 year old with a kind heart who it looking for a family he can share it with.
Robert didn't talk much when we first met him at Valley Worlds of Fun in Fairmont, but his actions speak louder than words.
In just one example, he kept a watchful eye on my stack of tokens and shared his tokens any time I ran out. He didn't even gloat when he beat me at air hockey.
"[He has] a very tender heart," said Karissa Loring, who works with Robert through Wendy's Wonderful Kids. "A lot of things can happen that sort of masks that when children go through so many things."
Robert is caring with younger kids and polite with everyone.
"Shutting my van door when we go somewhere, holding the door when I go into places, thanking me for everything," Loring said. "Kids are kids but I think that says a lot, I think, about his personality."
Robert said his favorite classes are math and gym and that he likes being outside riding four-wheelers or going hunting.
Overall, he's an easy-going guy and he isn't picky about a family to adopt him.
"Have fun, and love you. Caring," Robert said.
Loring also describes Robert as very grateful for everything given to him, from presents at Christmas to this trip to the arcade.
The chance to become part of a family would give him a reason to say "thank you" every day.
"Every family has their own dynamics and when kids come into the picture you really have to work on it but I just think that he would not take it for granted," Loring said. "I think he would really appreciate knowing he was somewhere where people cared about him."
