UPDATE: At Least 5 Injured After Accident at Masontown Racetrack

GNCC and 911 officials have confirmed that at least five people were injured in the accident at the Marvin's Mountaintop racetrack on Saturday.

Preston County 911 said three people were flown to the hospital, and KAMP Ambulance took one person to Ruby Memorial Hospital via ground.

Jen Kenyon, media manager for Racer Productions/MX Sports, said two people sustained leg injuries, and the other three injuries were not deemed serious.

The Preston County Sheriff's Department is investigating after first responders were dispatched to a reported accident at the racetrack in Masontown.

Preston County 911 said the incident happened around 3:15 p.m. 

Initial reports indicate that a race vehicle crashed into the crowd, injuring spectators at the GNCC Mountaineer Run.

911 officials confirmed that numerous medical helicopters were dispatched to the scene, but no word on how many people were flown to area hospitals.

Sheriff Dan Loughrie said he is not releasing any additional information at this time, as the investigation is ongoing, but said that his deputies are working diligently on the matter.

Masontown Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
