A Mountain State mainstay in the culinary world is making the leap to the Lone Star State.

Custard Stand Food Products announced May 7 it would be featured soon during in-store demonstrations at Central Market stores in Houston, Fort Worth and Plano, Texas.

“If you know someone who lives near one of the Central Market stores, encourage them to stop by and try America’s Tastiest Hot Dog Chili and Chili Soup with Beef & Beans,” the company wrote to its email subscribers.

The Custard Stand, which has been honored as one of The State Journal’s “55 Good Things About West Virginia,” started as a take-out dairy bar in 1991 in Webster Springs. The chili can be purchased at independent grocery stores, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Kroger, restaurants, convenience stores and at several ballparks and athletic fields in more than 13 states.
