Sentencing for Randolph County Man Accused of DUI Causing Death Postponed
The sentencing for a Randolph County man accused of DUI causing death will be rescheduled due to the judge being disqualified from hearing cases.
Cole Edmond pleaded guilty to DUI causing death in March 2014.
Randolph County Sheriff Mark Brady said a Chevy Cavalier driven by Cole Edmond, 19, was traveling south on Route 219 around 2:40 p.m. in June 2013 when he drove off the right hand side of the road. He overcorrected, crossed the center line, and struck a Dodge pickup truck head-on. Brady said Edmond's car then went over an embankment and came to a stop at the edge of a nearby pond. One of Edmond's passengers, a 15 year old, was ejected from the vehicle and was killed.
