Arch’s Coal Leer Mine is planning to install a ventilation shaft in May that is right across from Tygart Lake State Park.
Residents and park officials have expressed concerns that the noise may turn visitors away and disturb the peace.
Residents said they support coal and are not against the project, they just want to see it moved somewhere else.
A meeting for concerned residents is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Paradise Cove Community Center in Grafton.
