'Superhero' Runners Support CASA's Goal to Help Abused Kids

CASA held its second annual Superhero 5k through the streets of Fairmont at East Marion Park on Saturday.

The event raised more than $4,000 last year and benefits CASA programs in Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, and Preston Counties.

Its motto, "Every Child needs a hero, but abused children need superheroes," proved to be an inspiration for dozens of runners. Those who took on the course say they came out to support those children in need.

"I had a friend that was running, and I actually work the night shift, so I worked until 7 a.m. this morning, but I still wanted to come out and run because it's an important cause. I have two little boys who are very precious to me and to help kids in need, I think it's good," said runner Kelli Myers.

Our very own Jason Parrish and news director Aaron Williams also crossed the finish line.
