Division of Highways District Four Manager Greg Phillips is retiring.
Tuesday was his last day on the job after more than 20 years with the DOH.
Phillips said it's time to relax with his wife and grand children, and enjoy his time off.
But he said he'll miss working with the public and the crews at the DOH.
"I've really enjoyed it. The people here are wonderful people. The people that work out and plow the snow and clean the ditch lines are really dedicated state employees who want to make sure the traveling public have a safe road," said Phillips.
Phillips said he intends to stay in West Virginia near his family, with the exception of going south during the winter.
Ray Urse will take over as the district manager on Wednesday.
Urse was previously the District Four Assistant Maintenance Engineer.
