In honor of TOMS "One Day Without Shoes" global event, the University of Charleston TOMS club is asking students to participate by going barefoot all day April 15.
It is the event's second straight year and is in conjunction with the University's "Live the Mission Week."
During "TOMS Tuesday," prizes will be awarded to people who go barefoot, Yarid's shoe store will sell TOMS shoes on-site and there will be a do-it-yourself shoe styling table and barefoot "mini-games.". Also available are soccer balls made out of recycled newspaper and plastic bags, used for the pick-up soccer and volleyball games that will occur on the campus' riverbank throughout the day.
TOMS was founded on the premise that with every pair of shoes someone purchases, a pair of new shoes will be given to a child in need. The UC TOMS Club was founded in 2012 by UC students inspired by the TOMS mission.
