Restaurant Road Trip: Mia's Kitchen

Posted: Updated:

There is something special about the small city of Grafton that makes people want to live here forever and makes others want to come here, start their lives, and even bring a business.

That's where the idea of Mia's Kitchen came from. It's a small town restaurant that keeps its customers coming back.

"It's the hometown feel. It's not a major corporation or anything like that. We're Grafton," said Mark Rametta, Owner.

That's all Mark Rametta's customers need to know.

Mia's Kitchen is meant to be a simple place. There are pictures of former Bearcats on the walls, classical music plays in the background, and there is food for just about any appetite.

"Latin American. Mostly American, what the people like. The food that sticks to your ribs. Biscuits and gravy, we have a fish taco that's to die for. We have different items like the Big Beef," Rametta said.

Mia's Kitchen is a family owned Latin-American restaurant that sits right in the heart of downtown Grafton.

It opened its doors in February and already has its fair share of regulars.

"It's close to home. It's got our favorites," said Donna Bolyard, customer. "My daughter is a vegetarian so they accommodate her with the hoagie with no meat. My favorite of course is the wings and their desserts."

Some of the most popular items are the sandwiches, salads, and the stuffed potato.

But be sure not to fill up on dinner, because customers said the desserts are to die for.

"I usually don't eat sweets. I'm just not a sweets eater. However, the chocolate peanut butter cake is out of this world," Bolyard said.

Rametta said he wanted to bring a business to Grafton that would succeed, a place that customers would enjoy and tell others about.

"That flare where 'hey, here's something different. But if you don't want to try something different, if you want your hoagie or you want your chicken wings, we have that here for you too," he said.

Customers said the variety and the reasonable prices are reason enough to make the trip.

Mia's Kitchen is located on West Main Street in Downtown Grafton. It is open Monday-Thursday from 7-4. It is open Friday from 7-8 and is closed Saturday and Sunday.
