The Lewis County Commission was preparing for the future at its meeting this morning.
The commission held a public hearing to share the county's comprehensive plan with county residents.
The plan highlights needs in different areas across the county, but doesn't make any specific rules about any changes.
County administrators said having the plan prepared means greater flexibility for the county to take action.
"Many of the ordinances and enforcement acts that they county can approve can not be done by West Virginia code unless there is a comprehensive plan in place," said Lewis County Administrator Cindy Whetsell.
The plan includes information from six public meetings recently held around Lewis County.
