An Ohio-based company wants to bring power back the Stonewall Jackson Dam.
Mahoning Hydropower, LLC will hold a public meeting next week at Stonewall Resort to discuss the operation of hydroelectric facilities at the dam.
The Army Corps of Engineers structure already has equipment installed, but not in use.
They said they will be tracking the progress to make sure it doesn't hinder the operation of the dam.
"The Corps of Engineers' responsibility to the taxpayer is to make sure that any hydropower operations that are associated with any of our infrastructure doesn't negatively impact the mission these structures were built for," said Jeff Hawk, spokesperson for the ACE.
Hawk said the Stonewall Dam isn't alone. Other dams in the region are also seeing interest from outside companies.
