Authorities in Doddridge County have arrested a man on two counts of malicious assault.
Steven Hughes, 21, was taken into custody Saturday night, according to Chief Patrick Robinson of the West Union Police Department, who said he and other law enforcement officers responded to an altercation on New York Avenue around 6:30 p.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers learned Hughes struck two people with his vehicle. They believe his actions were intentional.
The Doddridge County Ambulance Authority took two people, a man and a woman, to United Hospital Center. They have both been treated and released, according to Robinson.
Authorities also arrested Hughes' father, James Hughes, 49, a convicted felon who was in possession of a firearm at the scene. He is in the North Central Regional Jail.
Steven Hughes was released from the North Central Regional Jail on bond.
The sheriff's department, state police, and the West Union Fire Department also responded to the scene.
