Harrison County Commission had the final reading Thursday on a flood plain ordinance.
After hearing no public comments, commission voted to adopt the ordinance, which county administrator William Parker said will benefit residents.
"Living in the identified flood plain requires flood insurance through financial institutions, if you have the house financed or if you want to protect your assets. FEMA provides that, subsidizes that, as long as the community maintains eligibility in the national flood insurance program," Parker said.
Also Thursday, commission proclaimed April as 'fair housing month' with the Clarksburg-Harrison Regional Housing Authority.
