The Upshur County Commission and the City of Buckhannon is recognizing April as "Make it Shine" Month.
The county's solid waste authority held presentations Thursday and proclamations were approved to show support in West Virginia's recycling awareness program.
Upshur County will hold several activities throughout the month.
Officials said this is the perfect time of the year to start cleaning up around the state.
"Snow that's been continuing on the ground, things that have blown out of people's pickup trucks, people have actually thrown litter out, and it hasn't been able to be picked up. So there's a great need this April to clean up our highways and residences," said Burl Smith, of Upshur County Solid Waste Authority.
