Speedway Corporation is moving forward with plans for a potential location in downtown Clarksburg.
On Tuesday, representatives from the company requested a series of variances from the city's board of zoning appeals regarding property on West Pike Street that is currently occupied by Rokisky's Exxon.
Clarksburg city manager Martin Howe said the variances would be necessary for Speedway to be in compliance with the city's zoning codes.
"[It's about] certain issues requiring buffers for landscaping and setbacks for signage. If any purchase would be made, or any transaction would be made, that would be disclosed by either entity. Then they could move forward with designing for their project to be located at that site," said Howe.
Most of those variances were granted by the zoning board. Speedway wouldn't comment on if or when that sale would take place.
