Fire departments from Upshur and Lewis County responded to the scene of a structure fire in Buckhannon.
It happened just after midnight Tuesday morning.
When crews arrived on scene, they found a working fire at an apartment building at 110 Barbour Street.
Buckhannon Fire, Warren District and Washington District Volunteer Fire Departments, Weston Fire, and Upshur County EMS responded to the two-story building, where smoke was visible from the roof.
Buckhannon Fire Chief Mitch Tacy said the fire is believe to have started in the back corner of the building.
He said the apartment building is occupied by two tenants.
One tenant, who lives on the bottom level of the building, was home at the time. They made it out safely. The other tenants were not home.
No word on the cause of the fire.
