The Fairmont Police Department received information on March 26 that a Walnut Ave. resident was in possession of child pornography. After investigating, the department obtained search warrants and searched the home and vehicle of James David Milford, 46.
After searching the home and a thorough search of digital media possessed by Milford, police discovered that he had more than 40,000 images and video of children engaged in explicit activity.
Fairmont Police searched for Milford and located him in a vehicle on Fairmont Avenue. He was arrested just before before 9 p.m on Wednesday.
Milford was interviewed at the Fairmont Police Department and confessed to recording nude images of children to add to his collection of pornography. Milford also admitted to enticing young children into his residence so he could record them. Some of the children in his recordings were toddlers. Police recovered images of children performing sexual acts on adults, children engaging in bestiality, and children in distress.
Milford is charged with seven counts of possession of child pornography. Additional charges will be filed as the police continue their investigation.
Fairmont Police are working to locate children who have been involved with Milford and ensuring services are in place for their welfare.
James Milford is being held in North Central Regional Jail on $700,000 bail.
