Jane Cline, former West Virginia commissioner of insurance, has been honored by the Independent Insurance Agents of West Virginia. Officials cited her work in stabilizing, stimulating and expanding the markets of independent insurance agents across the state during her tenure in office and through her work with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
Cline was given the Shannon Award, which has only been bestowed upon two other individuals in the 25 years since it was created.
Cline served as insurance commissioner from 2001 to 2011. She served as president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners in 2010.
The Shannon Award was named for John Shannon and his transformative contributions he made both to IIAWV and to the insurance agent profession. The award was presented to Cline last month during a celebration of Insurance Day in Charleston.
