A major drug bust was made Tuesday night in the Wallace area of Harrison County. The Harrison County Sheriff's Department investigated after receiving a complaint from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources about an illegal dump site.
A search warrant was executed on a residence in Wallace and deputies found 192 grams of bath salts about $40,000 worth of various firearms and about $26,000 in cash. The sheriff's department arrested Andrew M. Bates, 48 for possession with intent to distribute bath salts.
Sheriff Albert Marano said working with other agencies is important for arrests like these. "You just never know where your next lead is going to come from. It could be parole, it could be probation, it could be other agencies like the Natural Resource Police like it did yesterday. We get a lot of our tips from the general public. It's all helpful and we try to follow up on as many as we can," said Marano.
The investigation is ongoing and Marano said additional arrests could happen depending on where the investigation leads.
Also involved in the investigation was the prosecutors office, the DNR, and the Lumberport Fire Department.
