The Barbour County Sheriff's Department is warning county residents to be aware of a scam in the county.
Interim Sheriff Phil Ferguson said two elderly couples have been approached by six men offering to pave their driveway with excess concrete. But instead of concrete, they lay a thin layer of gravel and smooth it out. They then charge $4,000 for the work.
Ferguson said the material used is barely worth $60. He said the six men arrive in two pickup trucks, one black and one white, and a white dump truck. If you see the men or have any information, contact the Barbour County Sheriff's Department at (304) 457-2352.
The sheriff's department said Thursday that it would like to thank citizens for coming forward and contacting the department about the scam. The sheriff's department said the information it has received will likely result in an upcoming arrest and it hopes to get people's money returned to them.
