Bethany College will help students celebrate the school's 175th anniversary by freezing tuition for the 2014-15 academic year.
Bethany is at least the second private nonprofit college in West Virginia to say it will not increase tuition next year. Alderson Broaddus University announced Feb. 27 it had extended its three-year commitment of a comprehensive freeze on tuition and fees through spring 2015.
The freeze at Bethany applies to all incoming and returning undergraduate students. Bethany officials say the school's rates are already below the national average. The average cost of tuition and fees at Bethany is $25,736, while the national average for private schools is $30,094.
