A local organization is encouraging Lewis County residents to take advantage of the new expanded Medicaid.
The Lewis County Family Resource Network is hosting "Soup, Sandwiches, and Sign-ups" this Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
FRN staff will be on hand to help determine if you're eligible for the expanded benefits, and register you for them if you are.
Director Dauna Hawkins said she hopes to see more people covered sooner rather than later.
"I'm worried about our folks, because we have so many that haven't signed up yet. And I want to assure them that it's free, that all we have to do is get some information from them," Hawkins explained.
Hawkins said there are more than 2,000 people in Lewis County alone who are eligible for the program, but have not signed up yet.
