Every year since the 1980's, the Service Employees International Union at Fairmont General Hospital gives their Christmas Bonus to charities in Fairmont. This year was no different.
The Union Mission, Scott's Shelter, HOPE Incorporated, and the Soup Opera were some of the local charities to benefit from the SEIU this year.
Union representatives said giving local charities money toward their cause is the least they can do for a community who does so much for them.
"We care a lot about this hospital, we care a lot about this community here. We appreciate everything that the community does for us. We just feel like this is our part in giving back to the community," explained Brenda Kline, SEIU Representative.
Different donations over the years ranged from Christmas hams, candies, and money.
