On Friday, employees at the Deer Creek Motel called the Cambridge police to report the death of one of their motel guests that was found by one of their housekeeping employees.
Officers arrived to find a 44-year-old man dead on the floor of his motel room. Details of the crime are being investigated by the Cambridge Police Department, Guernesy County Sheriff's Office, and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
The identity of the victim is not being released due to pending notification of relatives. He is believed to be a recent Cambridge resident who moved from North Carolina. He had been staying at the Hotel since Saturday Feb. 1.
Guernsey County Coroner Dr. Sandy Schubert ordered the victim transported to the licking County Coroner's office where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and time of death.
No arrests have been made and no one is in custody in connection with this homicide. This is the first homicide in the City of Cambridge since April 2012.
