Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital was also marking the day red in Weston.
The hospital offered free heart screenings this morning.
Services included blood pressure and bone density checks, as well as an optional EKG.
Staff said preventative care is important to many in rural areas.
"You might grab someone that normally wouldn't go to the doctor, or wouldn't get out, doesn't have insurance at the present time to get get actual healthcare, so they'll come and get free screenings and we actually help them realize that maybe they do have high blood pressure," said Kristi Gannon.
Gannon said heart disease is the number one cause of death in men and women.
